TEXTILE AND FASHION DESIGNER
I am Adina Fay Barrientos and I am an enthusiastic designer with an extensive education in business who takes creativity to another level. I am currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Textile and Fashion Design with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship. I will be graduating in May of 2018 and am in current pursuit of a design position after graduation. Over the Summer of 2017 I interned at Misti International, a Fair Trade Peruvian company specialized in the Alpaca fiber industry. My passion for design, however, is shadowed by my determination to restructure the fashion industry to be more sustainable, ethical, and transparent.
As an avid rock climber, hiker, and kayaker, I find much of my inspiration in the outdoors and admire the complex patterns that can be found in nature. I believe design has enormous potential to connect consumers to nature and thus making them more conscious about their consumerism. Combining my education in business, my skill in design, and my enthusiasm for innovation, I greatly look forward to helping the fashion industry evolve into a more efficient and sustainable industry.
